Today was the opening for the exhibition in the Museo de la Memoria and they are showing this one illustration of mine. They also did an award ceremony and I won 3rd place, $300.000 and a very expensive set of markers :)

For the "Typography and Layout" exam, we have to work in pairs (I'm with Jo) to create this poster full of tips, "where to go", "where to eat", yadayada... about a certain city.
As this is becoming more and more impossible and we feel trapped and the deadline is actually tomorrow, I contacted a friend from a year above us who is very talented. She is going to finish it for us. In exchange of nothing, which is great but also suspicious.
Update: We got the highest grade. Guilty? Maybe.
This is the file we sent my friend. Can't find the one we got back, but it was considerably better.

My exam for the "Illustration" class is ready and I'm super happy with the way it turned out. I also had to design a little box, and even tho I did last minute I really like it.
I decided to take Pinochet out of if, as he wasn't really a constitutional president and he also violeted like every human right possible, so he doesn't deserve to be in the presidential deck.

Today I went to an award ceremony in my Uni, because my illustration was selected to illustrate a short story called "Virgilio" in a publication by the Institute of Humanities. What noone knows is that I also applied for the short stories competition but my story didn't make it through. This should be a clear sign that I'm better with visuals than with words.

Together with a bunch of friends, we are candidates to run the Design Student Council next year. We are just in second year (we will be in third year by the time of our period), but it's usually run by people one year older.
We still think we can win the elections. People like us and they know we are rebel enough to fight for change, but nerd enough to make change happen.

I came to the Chiloé to build a communal house in a very poor town. Some sort of social work. It wasn't supposed to be so religious, but it turned out being super religious which was funny because Jo and Javi came with me and Javi is not religious at all. They just run away during praying time to buy cigarretes and walk around Chiloé.

I just got an email and I passed the interview, so now I need to go and to a general training and then I can start working as a promoter during the weekends. I'm trying to convalidate the courses I did in Universidad Católica, when I was studying Business and Economics. Sometimes it is a bit hectic to study these 2 things at the same time and also play in the tenis team and do all these other things. However, I feel like the less time I have the better I use my time, so I can actually do everything. Next week I have the Statistics exam and I haven't been to class in 2 weeks. I hope I pass.

Approach: I wonder how I can use these modules differently. As everyone else is putting them together to form letters, I will try putting them together to form drop shadows of the shapes. So the letter is in the "void" and not in the "fill".

Typography brief: to take a photo of an "M" in Klavika italic font. Klavika is a geometric font released by Process Type Foundry in 2004.
I decided to take the pics in urban spaces as the font is very rational, technical and somehow urban.
I secretly went on the rooftop of a building in the city centre. I thought if I could put the italic "M" in the border of the precipice, as if it was peaking over, it would be fun and unexpected and communicate action or movement.

Today I delivered my proposals for the MG competition. I had so many ideas but at th end decided to practice my lettering skills for one and my illustration skills for the other. I the first one I wrote "Your streets and city need you. Enlist now." which now feels like a silly text, but I hope they like it. For the second one I identified all british symbols and codes and illustrated them in a very messy pattern.

Amaru, the guy that drove me to work on February, gave me two tickets for Ed Sheeran. The were "general" tickets, nothing fancy. I invited Pacita to come with me. Because I we wanted to be closer, I decided to use my design skills and print some DG Medios ID cards. I put some fake bar codes and the logo and wrote "production". Then we printed them in a hard plastic paper and put them in my Topshop landyard. The day of the concert we dressed like celebrities, with big feather jackets and sunglasses. After getting in we wore our fake ID cards and went thorugh all securities until the backstage, pretending to be talking in the phone in english. When we were in the VIP we run into Amaru (the guy that gave me the general tickets). It was one of the most embarrassing moments of my life. But also somehow epic.

I submitted a design for my first design competition. The brief was to design a bottle for a limited edition of a tropical alcoholic drink with mango flavour for Capel. Capel is the most popular pisco brand in the country.
I first drew it by hand > scanned it > edited it and optimised it in Photoshop > Colored it in Illustrator > Back to photoshop to add some shadows > Put it in a mockup.

I charge $20.000 and take people's cars to the technical inspection. There's usually a long queue and it takes forever. I go pick it up at their houses at night and then wake up at 5:00 am to be the first one in line. Anyone could do it, but some people prefer to pay. I prefer to get paid.

I finally got my schedule for the semester. I have "Social Responsability", "Design Wrokshop", "Statistics I", "Arts and Culture II"... My brain needs to go back and forth from a very creative design dynamic to a very rational economic logic. It's a challenge and I love it. I'm also still training 2 times a week field hockey in UC, playing in the weekends, training in the gym 3 times a week and being an assitant teacher for "Drawing I". Pretty intense but fun.
